Okey Dokey ... I started a discussion in the Beadalicious group, as follows!

Let's create and swap bracelets with each other :)

Please sign up here in this discussion if you're interested in participating ... this will be a fun way to create, and get to know the other jewelry making members at CCS a little better!

The bracelets must be finished and in the mail by Tuesday, December 9, 2008.

If you want to participate in this Bracelet Swap, Please sign up here, by October 30, 2008

On Sunday, November 2, I'll send out a questionnaire to each swap participant, to provide your address, specify your favorite colors, length preference, etc.

The questionnaires must be filled out and returned to me by Saturday, November 8, 2008.

On Sunday, November 9, there will be a random drawing to see who your swap partner will be. Then you'll be provided with your partner's info and email, so that you can correspond with each other.

Please photograph or scan your swap bracelet before sending it, so you can share what you have created with all of us here, after your swap partner receives it.

Happy Swapping!

Danielle- can you give me a brief explanation of Twitter? How does it work/what does it do?

Reply to This

Absolutely. Twitter is a social tool that allows you to brief your "followers" on updates throughout your day. Now, if you don't do anything except sit around all day, this could be completely pointless, but it allows you to update friends and business people who work in your niche what you're doing, if you've posted to a blog they follow, if you've found something cool online that your followers will also find intriguing. To help you understand, I'll use myself as an example: I work in a few different fields, so when I set up my profile, I mark myself as belong to the jewelry niche, the home based business niche, the entrepreneur niche, stay at home moms, marketing, graphic design, photography, etc. People may find you based on your chosen groups, but I find I get the most followers from "tweeting" or saying, general things about what I'm working on. I have 100 followers now who are almost evenly split between other marketing associates and jewelry people/creative types. They bring traffic to my blog, chat with me back and forth about issues important to our niche. It's a way of building a community and perhaps even making a few sales to fans of your work. And btw, how MANY followers you have isn't as important as having followers that don't spam you with ads constantly, as well as having people to interact with that share a common interest. I've met really interesting people from all over the world that I may never have met through purely staying in jewelry forums or blogging away by myself. Consider it a new way to get exposure for yourself and your business....a bit like an ever changing billboard.

Plus it's fun to see what people link back to you or what topics of conversation unfold. :)

Hope this helps. If all else fails, just go to Twitter.com and watch their instructional demo. It's quite cool how they did the demo and explained it. Very Apple/I'm a Mac-ish.

Cheers!

Thanks- yes this helps a lot. It sounds like something I want to do. I have a pc right now but I sooooo want a Mac. I used Mac at school and perfer it to pc when it comes to graphics and anything related.

I love my Mac, I love my Mac, I love my Mac. I bought it 2 years ago after only ever having a PC and not knowing a thing about it. I got it out of the box and had no idea how to even find anything, but I learned it in a matter of a few days. I can honestly say, I would NEVER go back to a PC. Not ever. I can game on my Mac, I can design and do Photoshop and all graphics better on my Mac, I adore iTunes (I ought to w/ over 2K songs. *LOL), I love my programs and find it so much easier to use. Less keystrokes, no crashing, no installing issues, no warnings about HD issues and and fatal errors, no VIRUSES. I love making movies and books and DVD's. I love that I have the capability to make music, though I don't know how to do it yet.

Truthfully, if you're a creative person in general, I think the Mac is a good fit. However, I know plenty of ppl that don't like Macs and that's fine; they're entitled to their opinions.

For me, it was the best thing I ever did and I'll never go back.

Best,

~D.

I don't know if you remember those Mac and PC commercials...but they remind me of my BF and myself. I want a Mac with all the creative, user friendly, intuitive operation. I want to creat with it. My logic minded BF is a networker- computer geek kind of guy and he just wants to do logical stuff...that and do tweeks to make everything go fast. He wants to know how and why it all works...I just want it to work.
Yes, I will get a Mac as soon as finances allow- especially because I do not want to go vista. I am a Mac- BF is a PC...viva-la-difference
