Many of us 'Spacers have been through painful periods of grieving, mourning and sorrowing.
Spacers write of loss of their pets, serious health challenges that debilitate, divorces, and loss of family or friends, and then there is catastrophic loss through natural disasters, car accidents, etc.

We grieve when we meet with these critical life challenges. I am grieving right now for the recent loss of a much loved soul-mate. It has made me wonder how our grief and sorrow effects our creativity...

Did you create during times of grieving or put it away?
Did sorrow change your creative habits?
Did you use sorrow as a starting point for a new inspiration?
Did it change the way you made art or the images you produced?

I would love to read of your experiences regarding how grief effected or is effecting your creative live...Please do share here!
Sincerely, Camille

Hi Camille:
This posting has helped mE greatly since I too have been missing my husband and my children. Each day when I step outside one brightly colored leaf of autumn has been waiting for mE bringing my loved ones close once once more. My husband was always bringing mE roses from a nearby bush. The last roses of summer are now faded only to be replaced by falling leaves of autumn.
I have always found comfort in the simple pleasures we each share in life.......

Blessings,
Barbaara

Same here, Barbara! I purposely step outside and look...one day it s a flock of beautiful red birds wth a unique song, another, a brightly colored and very large winged monarch butterfly becomes a friend of the day. The squirrels are very busy chomping with great enthusiasm on their home, the earth. This week, lots of shooting stars at nght and the bright autumn moons to take pleasure in.

Dabs- I mentioned this to a few- just as we were arriving at this years retreat I witnessed some sundogs. I had never even heard of them before, let alone saw.

My pictures did not capture the moment, so I also included a link to a picture of what it looked like.
It looked like three suns- the sun on the right and left had a rainbows running vertically from them. Directly behind us the moon was visible in the sky well before dark.

If that was not a simple pleasure beckoning for friendship, I don't know what would be :-)

It was also an awesome way to begin a spiritual retreat.
Here is my picture of the left side (the actual sun is in the right of this photo)

And here SUNDOGS is a good photo of one as well as information about them

I will have to check with the others and see if they got better pictures- if they did I'll add them

Jules...the SUNDOGs photo link sent me to a most awesome photo! Wow! I never saw anything like that before! Definitely a simple and unusual pleasure! How wonderful! Do the people in that area see these often? Can they be seen everywhere? I wanna see one in real life!!! Thanks for this enlightenment!
Going on a spiritual retreat is something that really sparks my interest at this time, Jules...I am going to do some searching for retreats near to me...Did you have to travel a great distance to get to the retreat and to see the SUNDOGS????

I never heard of them before then...ever since then I have looked sunward everytime there are clouds in the sky late afternoon...maybe I can be blessed with one again.
The nearly full moon in the sky behind us really topped the sight!
No one there had ever seen one either- a first for about 125 women seeking spiritual soothing.
This retreat is in Indy- about 3 hours south of me. Our trip seemed to be delayed by this and that and we were not there as early as planned, but we decided that is why we were late- had we not been pointing that way, just then, we would have missed it. We were near the parking lot at the place, so we piled out and gawked until it was no longer visible- others curious about waht we were looking at all stopped what they were doing to look to.
My photos were not that great, but I believe it is burned permanently in my minds eye.
