Many times I have had synchronous events occur in my life. This topic has come up several times in various discussions on CCS. In fact, here is a piece from today's Daily Om about it:

"August 29, 2008
Interconnected Experiences
Noticing Synchronicity

When events appear to fit together perfectly in our lives it may seem at first that they are random occurrences, things that are the result of coincidence. These synchronous happenings, though, are much more than that, for, if we
look at them more closely they can show us that the universe is listening to us and gently communicating with us. Learning to pay attention to and link the things that occur on a daily basis can be a way for us to become more attuned to the fact that most everything happens in our lives for a reason – even when that reason is not clear right away.

When we realize that things often go more smoothly than we can ever imagine, it allows us to take the time to reflect on the patterns in our lives. Even events that might not at first seem to be related to each other are indicators that the universe is working with, not against, us. This idea of synchronicity, then, means that we have to trust there is more to our lives than what we experience on a physical level. We need to be willing to look more closely at the bigger picture, accepting and having confidence in the fact that there is more to our experiences than immediately meets the eye. Being open to synchronicity also means that we have to understand that our lives are filled with both positive and negative events. Once we can recognize that one event is neither more desirable nor better than the other – they all have an overall purpose in our lives -- then we are truly ready to listen to the messages the universe gives us.

While we may not be able to see everything in our lives as being synchronous, we can certainly use hindsight to be more aware of how the universe guides us. This sense of wonder at the mysteries of the universe and the interconnectedness present in our lives will help us see our overall ways of being and will in turn make it easier to work more consciously towards our spiritual evolution."

I wondered how many other CCS folks have noted such events in their lives and what significance they attach to them? My most notable one recently was seeing exact (and unusual) phrases from a story I was writing be the title of a TV program that day and the next program following it was about research I needed for a novel I am working on! Rather a stretch to call it coincidence! I took it as encouragement from the Universe or God or the Higher Power to not give up on my writing and continue my projects.

Yeah, I think it is interesting to notice and see where it leads. Before my natural inclination would have been reacting along the lines of "What, are you kidding!??!", but given how much has already been happening already it's now more sort a "Well, not actually, but it's funny you should say that..." There is a lot of fear of the unknown if following these leads, especially if the coincidences centre around something you haven't even really considered except in a "Hey, that would be kind of fun" way. (I mean, performance art? That was quite surprising, but when I told one of my friends he said I should treat that as a quite a compliment!) But it's quite exciting!

Another coincidence happened the other day: Someone else whose work I admire on Flickr favourited one of my Utter Gutter pics. I got in touch with him, and it turns out it was a friend of his I'd shot!

Those are all excellent! It seldom does happen as if doors fly open and the light shines ...

And sometimes we think we're doing what we want and it turns out we're really doing what somebody else wants or what we think would impress somebody else. I started out this year thinking that starting a Blues (music) Society in my area would be a good thing. Actually, after I told him about CCS, my boyfriend started a NING group and gave it a Blues Society name. I got excited about it and started thinking a lot bigger than he had any intentions of ... we told people about it at blues jams, got a lot of interest generated, the NING site got up to over 70 members, we were featured in the local newspaper ...

Then I decided that it was going pretty well and I needed to concentrate on my art work, which is my true passion. I resigned from the steering committee to do that, and shortly thereafter there was some unpleasantness between members, and my boyfriend admitted that he really didn't want what I had assumed he wanted ... mostly he just wanted a place online to post local gigs and such ... and the whole thing pretty much fell apart ... the NING group still exists but nobody participates much because of one musician who used his influence to convince others not to ...

So just make sure it's really what YOU want that you go after ...

Maybe it fell apart because you weren't there Barb and you were the one really driving the energy behind the thing?

Great things happening for you there - shows you are going in the right direction. Ah that invisible thread...:-)

Let me see... YES! I can say my entire music career has been a matter of one synchronistic event after another. I was originally an actor and never thought of music as a career. One particular event led me to compile music I had composed over the years into a CD. The rest was an avalanche of events that got my career in music started, and the events continue. When the universe felt that I was ready for more, a promotional company contacted us to promote my work. As it turns out, they are not only pretty big, but they work closely with one New Age artist I have always dreamt of maybe one day working with, Will Ackerman (some of you may remember him as the previous owner of the Windham Hill label).

Like this promotion company, I can say that the people who came into my life the moment I begun my music work professionally and the timing have all been way too synchronistic to ignore. I could go on, but the list is too eerily long! Suffice it to say I am a 100% believer not only in synchronicity, but in Barbara's words: "Keep Going is my motto from here on out ... persistence pays off" And does it ever!

Yes you could say the last two weeks in Kefalonia were all about synchronicity - cutting it short - it was end of season not many people there. I had a workshop to do as well as supporting my daughter and her husband with his addiction problems. I did the workshop for two ladies I had never met before and they turned out to be senior social workers working with drug and alcohol abuse and lots of information for me...I then took a couple to to view my house which they were interested in buying and she turned out to have tons of info for me on setting up a community interest company, I had a note from someone else who worked in funding and the most amazing one of all...

I was sitting doing some writing at my daughters restaurant one afternoon, no-one else about or on the beach, two girls walked in and said hi, I admired their handbags! They came over, I asked where they were from, one was from my hometown and one was from the village I live in and when I told them my plans - they both worked in the charity sector with lots of info and just before one of them went to write down a name for me to contact I pulled out a list from my bag which I had written the night before with a name on it and it was the girls mother - she was going to write it down for me and I had a feeling she was connected to her - I had written the name before I had even met the girl!

The last one was I had said to myself, the universe and anyone else who was willing to listen, that I needed to find someone qualified in mental health to help me set up my drop in centre and a lady I got chatting to came from a village near me in the UK who was ....a qualified mental health worker and was looking to set up a drop in centre for women. We will connect soon!

Quite a lot of little syncronistic moments in a short space of time. My mind was free of expectations and attachments and I was willing to just see what came into the space I had created. It was great. x D

Detta, that's too amazing a set of circumstances to be just that, you know? Sounds like the universe wants that women's center opened very soon!

It seems like that Lin but you know I am in a devil of a place with myself - worrying is it the right thing to do or just another wild idea of mine! I am pondering and taking small steps to see how things pan out. Thanks for support!

I think if you get a lot of people on board with the same vision, then it is probably meant to be. Maybe a little sooner than you'd planned, but hey, that happens with lots of good things. Maybe it is to keep us from thinking of all the reasons "why it would never work". Listen to your inner guidance. That will be your best guide. If you are uncomfortable with it, then pay attention and ask why. Just my opinion. You are a winner whichever way you go- you have made some wonderful new friends regardless!

Detta,
Just been reading all the amazing things that have happened regarding your drop in centre. It is a huge project. I agree with Lin about having lots of like minded people on board and you can't go wrong. The biggest challenge is the financing. I will send prayers into the universe for you and ask for clear and precise guidance. How exciting.

Oooh, sent chills down my spine listening to all that Detta! Good for you! The universe is certainly batting for you on this one :-)

well gals - I've sent the letter requesting help to four district councilors and am holding off the deposit on the building of $4000 for a bit longer - not that I've got it but am waiting for universal help and human kindness! I did have a guy email me about buying one of my domain names so might just put a cheeky price in! will let you all know! BIG thanks for votes of confidence! X D
