Many times I have had synchronous events occur in my life. This topic has come up several times in various discussions on CCS. In fact, here is a piece from today's Daily Om about it:

"August 29, 2008
Interconnected Experiences
Noticing Synchronicity

When events appear to fit together perfectly in our lives it may seem at first that they are random occurrences, things that are the result of coincidence. These synchronous happenings, though, are much more than that, for, if we
look at them more closely they can show us that the universe is listening to us and gently communicating with us. Learning to pay attention to and link the things that occur on a daily basis can be a way for us to become more attuned to the fact that most everything happens in our lives for a reason – even when that reason is not clear right away.

When we realize that things often go more smoothly than we can ever imagine, it allows us to take the time to reflect on the patterns in our lives. Even events that might not at first seem to be related to each other are indicators that the universe is working with, not against, us. This idea of synchronicity, then, means that we have to trust there is more to our lives than what we experience on a physical level. We need to be willing to look more closely at the bigger picture, accepting and having confidence in the fact that there is more to our experiences than immediately meets the eye. Being open to synchronicity also means that we have to understand that our lives are filled with both positive and negative events. Once we can recognize that one event is neither more desirable nor better than the other – they all have an overall purpose in our lives -- then we are truly ready to listen to the messages the universe gives us.

While we may not be able to see everything in our lives as being synchronous, we can certainly use hindsight to be more aware of how the universe guides us. This sense of wonder at the mysteries of the universe and the interconnectedness present in our lives will help us see our overall ways of being and will in turn make it easier to work more consciously towards our spiritual evolution."

I wondered how many other CCS folks have noted such events in their lives and what significance they attach to them? My most notable one recently was seeing exact (and unusual) phrases from a story I was writing be the title of a TV program that day and the next program following it was about research I needed for a novel I am working on! Rather a stretch to call it coincidence! I took it as encouragement from the Universe or God or the Higher Power to not give up on my writing and continue my projects.

Yes, synchronicity happens a lot in my life, recently. Most of us are trained to ignore it most of the time. I've had periods in the past where it got to be overwhelmingly spooky to me and I couldn't deal with it, felt I had to shut down my awareness of it and deny my own perceptions in order to keep my sanity. Quit my job and stayed home in seclusion for the most part ... at the time, people who were having these kinds of experiences were said to be having a "nervous breakdown". Now that I know what it is, I can deal with it better.

Lin, I'm glad you looked at these synchronicities with an open mind and view them as encouragement. Sometimes when we have an original idea, and then find it replicated elsewhere, it can lead us in the opposite direction if we look at it as having already been done, instead of what it really is, being in tune with the higher consciousness. Keep Going is my motto from here on out ... persistence pays off :)

It didn't duplicate my idea, it was in a different area, though it was close. It just was too odd that I was working on the story that day and that evening the phrases come up on TV, when I hadn't read any news on upcoming shows or anything. And the following show was in the same area as the setting of my novel but provided additional background for it I had not been aware of. Something I needed to see!

I can't recall specific moments of synchronicity, but certainly the times where I've made a bold move in my CoachCreative business, it's been rewarding with great feedback. Launching CCS being the biggest example, and recently the CoachCreativeClips podcasts. I think it's faith sometimes, believing that there's an audience for what one has to say and give. Once we become brave enough to offer that message and put ourselves out there in the world, the people we connect with and can help seem to be naturally drawn in. It's a bigger kind of community synchronicity I guess.

I think we have to be attuned to what we need to hear to help us move forward, but also be selective. I'm very wary of people receiving vague predictions from complete strangers, or read in a magazine that could be interpreted in a thousand different ways. Like those kind of horoscopes that say things like "you should pay attention to a close relationship" or "financial matters are a concern lately", that, far from being insightful, could apply to virtually any aspect of any person's life!

Yes, I rarely get excited about the general horoscopes just because that is what they are- general, can apply to anything! It's when things are very specific that I sit up and take notice. I feel that such occurrences are more than random events.

Yes absolutely, things that happen with specific people. Sometimes you know you're just waiting for a signal to make a decision with something, and then it comes...

I do believe in signs. Doesn't necessarily have to be the heaven's parting or anything dramatic, sometimes just the right object coming to hand at the right time from an unexpected person or place...

I experience synchronicity a lot in my life. I look out for it and the more you look the more you see it. I love it because it helps me to believe I am on track in my life and that I am where I am supposed to be

Susan that is so true..... "it helps me to believe I am on track"

Lin, this topic immediately drew me into the conversation. It's something that I am constantly amazed at when it happens in my life. Your experience definitely sounds more than a coincidence. How exciting ....an indicator to push you further along with your idea. I love when that happens in my art. Often I have more or less discarded an idea and then something happens to make me think, hmmm, maybe I should try it and the hunch usually pays off with spectacular results.

Sometimes the best things do come from something I was ready to toss- funny, isn't it, when synchronicity intervenes? Maybe this is more common for creative people than I thought...

Great when that happens, Susan!

synchronicity is abundant in my life. I often do not see it until after the fact. I would like to recognize it one day as it is happening. That is why I am always saying 'there are no coincidences'

Like now...my car's engine just died. Running fine with no problems one day and gone the next. This is a bit of synchronicity in the making- but I do not know what it will lead to yet. Perhaps a car like I have dreamed of is becoming available. Perhaps there will be a horrific accident on a street I travel that not having a car now will save me from. Perhaps while car hunting I will run into someone I need to meet.Perhaps it is just time to conquer my fear of car salesmen. I see all things as connected. I just do not always see how right away-
